More than

Basketball

14|27 is the Ultimate Basketball Challenge

There's not a tougher, more addictive, competitive challenge out there. Once it's attempted, it stays in a competitors mind until it's conquered. For those skilled enough to complete it...it can always be done quicker / better / and cleaner than before.

14|27 is an individual based basketball challenge. It gives each competitor the opportunity to show their overall basketball skills as their accuracy, composure and overall strength gets put to the ULTIMATE Test.

We take 14|27 anywhere we can. If there's a hoop...perfect. If not, we'll bring one. We've gone to schools, camps, community events, universities, tournaments, county fairs, halftime shows, cruise ships and more.

Due to the uniqueness of 14|27 we can make it work for any event, gathering, or competition. We've streamlined the challenge to make it adaptable and customizable to the needs of where we're at.

Mission

Don't Give Up

To encourage shooters to put as much “don’t give up attitude” into life as they do while on the basketball court.

Purpose

Challenge & Inspire

To provide family friendly competition that challenges & inspires people through the game of basketball.

Goal

At Every Level

To see this basketball challenge continually taken on in every level of competition from children to the pros.

Put Your Skills Through The Ultimate Test

You Have Nothing to Lose

There was a time when throwing the ball through the hoop or shooting 3's with racks of balls was the way to show your SUPERIORITY! Not anymore! The 14|27 is the new way to prove just how good of a ball player you are.

You're up next.

Consistency is the name of the game. You need to average 50% shooting or better the whole time.

Each shot is different from the one before. You have to adjust your depth, your height, left, and right. The first shot can go wrong but the next has to be on...to move on.

You will miss. It's not a maybe. After you miss what you choose to focus on will determine your chances of moving forward.

Rather than letting the eyes of coaches, teammates, and spectators make you nervous...choose to let it motivate you to showcase your talent under pressure.

This isn't just about shooting...it's about rebounding and the time it takes for you to move from one dynamic of the game to the other.

You will feel it in your legs, your arms, and your lungs but you GET to push through it. There's no hiding in a 14|27...it's just you, the ball, and the hoop. Your speed, control, and shot awareness will be put to the ultimate test.

There's no passing here!

story

a Napkin Idea

14|27 was first talked about at a restaurant in St. Cloud, MN on the day March 13, 2020. At that point it was what we call a “napkin idea.” Meaning, something that is the result of a brainstorm but still in the very infant stage. Little did we know that what was once a napkin idea would be become a reality 11 months later.

back in the 90's

Even though 14|27 is still very young the passion for basketball goes all the way back to the 90’s. To a kid playing basketball on a driveway in Central Wisconsin. Eventually on March 12, 2020 that kid, now a middle aged man did something that would eventually challenge and inspire basketball players young and old.

Looking Forward

Though it is fun to look back, 14|27 is all about looking forward. Looking forward to the next location, the next team, the next great shooter to take on the challenge.

Questions And Answers

We tossed around ideas like Magellan (arguably the first person to sail around the world). It didn’t stick. What would be better? Something real simple. How about the number of spots “14” and the number of shots “27.” Done!

This was a big decision. It took a while to figure out. We had two great ideas. One that was very trendy and athletic like. The other, again just simple and sleek. The world doesn’t need more complicated so we went with sleek and simple.

14|27 is a LLC (business). That said, we use a portion of all profits to provide scholarships for college students and funds for school basketball teams. On top of that we give to non-profits.

All you need is to get in the door right? It’s all about getting the first one. We reached out to school after school. Hearing back good things but nothing was being scheduled. We eventually connected with St. Cloud Christian School and on February 18, 2021 we had our first 14|27

With an effort to keep with the trend that has been working so far, we endeavor to keep things simple. To do what we do. Offer players the chance to be challenged and inspire them along the journey.

We believe everyone (by God) has been given skills, passions and talents. We’ve been given the opportunity to see our passions challenge and inspire shooters young and old.

We believe that dreams do come true. We believe that Jesus will always be your greatest source of seeing your dreams become a reality. You may wonder why we believe this. It’s simple…it’s what He’s done for us.

Our TEAM

Though 14|27 started in the hearts of Tommy and Angela, it requires more than them to carry out the mission. Many events run multiple hours using several hoops with 100's of attempts.

With ever increasing opportunities to bring 14|27 to venues both large and small we are very careful to bring on only the best. Our Team works seamlessly with young athletes all the way to Senior Citizens.

We do our best to make sure every competitor knows exactly what they are supposed to do and are guided through the challenge from start to finish.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU

Without Russ and Karlyn, the 14|27 Basketball Challenge wouldn't be where it is today. In its infancy, they brought their skills, passions, ideas, and heart to see it not only created but to thrive.

The early days were not easy and there were many times where we all wondered where this road would lead. Without the support of Russ and Karlyn, it would have been very tough for Tommy and Angela to continue to chase after this dream and see what God laid on their hearts come to fruition.

Thank You Russ and KP...

What's Your Need?

14|27 Options

We've done camps, universities and team practices. We've run game night competitions and community wide events and county fairs. Whether you're a coach, director, leader, etc. consider having 14|27 be a part of your event.

Depending on the overall time and hoops available 8 - 20 competitors can compete during a halftime competition. Most likely we'll use the "14|27 mini" for this competition. But we can certainly run the full 14|27 if that's requested.

20 - 40 total competitors can compete during the pre-game competition. The time allowed will determine whether we use the full challenge or the mini.

We partner with local gyms, athletic stores, leaders, and city officials to bring community wide events that basketball players can compete in.

Up to 50 total competitors can compete in 30minutes of time. Most basketball players have never run a basketball challenge like the 14|27...give them something new.

This challenge will clearly distinguish the truly great shooters from the rest. It'll also provide a chance for players coming off the bench to show what they're made of.

Tournaments crown the best team...but rarely do they figure out who's the best shooter. Inviting us in to run a family friendly and very engaging competition could be what your tournament is missing.

We can run our challenge in various ways and at different times to accommodate the schedule.

When we're invited to camps...we don't take the time to teach players how to shoot (that's often times done by someone else). We're putting their shooting skills to the ultimate test.

How a player performs will open the door for them to receive more coaching and technical training so the next time they'll perform better.

Don't let $ stand in the way of contacting us about being at your event. We've worked with all kinds of teams, camps, stores, fairs, etc.

Most of our events cost between $750 - $1,350 per day

We encourage you to ALWAYS reach out...and we'll come up with a plan that works for everyone.

Can You Do It?

Family Friendly
Competition

Completing the 14|27 is incredibly difficult.

It’s so difficult that it can frustrate the best of shooters. If you’ve tried it, then you know. It’s important to understand that completing the 14|27 is not impossible. Rather it serves to remind everyone that if you don’t give up, and keep trying eventually you can succeed.

These words are true about Basketball & Life.
